Chevron {Spring} Wreath Tutorial

Can you tell I'm on a chevron kick right now?  I just finished this chevron vase for my Master Bedroom.

Now, it's time to show you how to dress up your front door for spring!

 Supplies

Wreath (I got an 18" one)

1/2 yard Chevron Fabric (I found mine at Hobby Lobby)

 Straight pins

Corsage Pins

Felt (I used 1/3 yard)

Scissors

Directions

Cut your fabric into strips.  I cut mine 3 inches wide X the width of the fabric.  I used 9 strips.

I got duck cloth, because I love the rough, linen-y texture.

 

Next, let's cut out all the felt circles you will need.  I cut out about 50-60 3 inch circles.  Use a cup to trace around.

Time to assemble the wreath! Use a straight pin to pin your first piece of cloth to your blank wreath.

Keep wrapping your fabric around your wreath until the whole thing is covered!

Next up, let's make that gorgeous, ruffly felt stuff on the side.  

It's easier than it looks!

Start with one felt circle, and fold it in half.

Fold that circle in half again.

Your "petal" will look like this from the top:

Take the same straight pins you used when pinning on your fabric, and put one through the bottom of your petal, like this:

Pin it to your wreath.  Repeat this for ALL the circles.  

There is no set way of how close or far apart to put your "petals". 

 I pinned mine fairly close together to get more of a ruffly look.

Now, to dress it up a little, and to break up all that felt going on, randomly stick in some corsage pins.  I got the kind with a big pearl on top.  I like it fancy!

 

Your wreath should be looking like this:

{Gift Wrap} Organization: IKEA Style

I saw this idea on pinterest last year, and could not WAIT to do it in my own house.  Pure Genius!

The supplies you need are simple.  

A quick trip to IKEA, and you are good to go!

Bygel hooks

Riktig clips

Hanging cups

How to

Install the bars.

Bang up your basket, and use it to hold scissors, tape, cards.

Use the hanging cups to hold pens.

Use the Riktig clips to hold up your wrapping paper.

Use the Bygel hooks to hang gift bags.

DONE!

DIY Chevron Vase

I've been working on our Master Bedroom.  A much ignored room for too long!  I've been wanting a navy blue chevron vase, like this one:

Problem #1, it's $65.  Problem #2, it's too small.  I needed something a little bigger for our dresser.

So, I decided to DIY it!  And I'm so glad I did!

DIY Chevron Vase

Supplies needed

Blank white vase (I found mine at Pier 1)

Vinyl cut in chevron pattern (.svg file found below!)

Acrylic craft paint

Foam Brush

Clear Acrylic Sealant

I started out with two vases.  I love the boxy one!  They were both on clearance, so this was even cheaper than I expected.  Always a plus!

I then used my trusty Cricut to cut out a basic chevron pattern. 

  (You can do this without a cricut.  Instructions here)

I carefully peeled off the chevron, and applied it to my vase.

Because my vase was larger at the top than the bottom, I had to "fold" the vinyl over in a few spots to make the pattern line up right.

Next, it was time to paint!

I used basic craft paint; Martha Stewart brand.

   

I then peeled off the vinyl, while the paint was still wet....this is important!  If you let the paint dry, the vinyl will take the paint off with it.

I then gave it a few coats of sealant. 

And, my finished vase.  Ta da!

It fits the corner of my dresser perfectly.

Totally lovin' the hand painted look.

A super easy project.  Only took about 40 minutes, start to finish!

And my little square vase?  It ended up on my table, giving the perfect punch of pattern!

I used the same process on the square vase.  Super easy.

Adding Character to the {Mudroom}

We are finally settling in to our new place, and the decorating has begun!

My FAVORITE (no exaggeration!) room in our new house is the mudroom.  It is right off the garage, so we can drop off all the stuff right as we walk in.

It's a clean freak's dream come true!

Here is a shot of our mudroom. (forgive the baddddd lighting)

As you can see, the spaces up above looked a little lonely.  So, I picked up some faux linen bins from Lowe's.  

Still looks a little drab....

Pull out my cricut, add a little vinyl, and we're good to go!

Looking much better!

My kiddos love the little bench.  They plop right on it to take off their shoes....which are conveniently stored in the drawers at the bottom.

I'm telling you, it's a dream!

{Easy} Valentine Day Gift!

Miss J and I have been putting our heads together to come up with something cute and non-food related to give out at her class V-Day party......

Directions

 

• Print off the bag toppers.  I did two per page.
• Put loopy straw in treat bag.
• Fold your bag topper in half, and staple your bag topper to the top.
• DONE!

Now, that should be about THE easiest V-day gift, Ever!
